Wales’ leading brewery and licensed hospitality retailer, Brains Brewery, has been busy working behind the scenes and will open on Monday, August 3 with new menus, an enhanced drink offering and a brand-new lager.

Alan Todd Brains’ Head of Pub Operations says:

“We’ve been listening to our loyal customers and we’ll be making lots of positive changes across our pub estate, including a set of comprehensive safety measures, in line with government guidelines so we’ll be safe when we open our doors.”

New Menus

In conjunction with the UK's leading independent food wholesaler, Castell Howell, Brains has developed a suite of new pub menus full of pub favourites, gourmet delicacies and the tastiest bar snacks which will launch with the phased return of pubs on Monday, August 3.

The new menus, available at lunchtime and evenings, draw from Brains’ rich Welsh heritage dating back to 1882 when the brewery was established.

Long-standing pub classics remain at the heart of the new menus, joined by exciting new Welsh-inspired dishes including Traditional Lamb Faggots, Lamb Steak and Cockles & Laverbread.

Nathan Evans, Brains Food Operations Manager says:

“A conscious effort has also been made to champion local ingredients wherever possible, working closely with Castell Howell to source Welsh made produce such as Penderyn Whisky, Brecon Honey, Pantysgawn Goats Cheese and Mario’s ice cream, made in Carmarthenshire.”

You can’t get more local than Brains’ very own Cardiff-based beers, which feature prominently across the menus in recipes including the best-selling Brains Beer Battered Cod and Chips, The Big Brains Beer Burger and a selection of sauces, glazes and chutney.

Customers will even have the option to indulge in a new perfect pairing where beer and chocolate come together to create Brains’ first beer infused homemade chocolate brownie!

Brains’ chefs will also be given the opportunity to put their own stamp on the menus, with access to a large bank of specials designed to give customers the additional choice between seasonal favourites and dishes inspired by new emerging food trends.

Bayside

Even more good news!

Brains are launching a new lager ready for their pubs’ reopening.

“It’s been a long-time coming, and after a lot of research, brewing, tasting and testing we are proud to announce that we will be launching a brand-new lager into our range from August,” said Brains’ Head Brewer Bill Dobson.

Keeping thirst at bay, for lager lovers across Wales and beyond... Bayside Welsh lager is inspired by the great lagers of the world and proudly brewed in the heart of Cardiff to 4.3% ABV!

This crisp, light, highly drinkable lager will set sail in August 2020 and Brains is delighted to welcome the new hero to the family. It will make a great addition to the already award-winning Brains Beer brand.

New drinks range

To complement their new menus, Brains has invested a great deal of time and effort into a complete drinks review, which will look at bringing back some long-standing customer favourites, such as Guinness and Strongbow Dark Fruits, as well introducing a selection of new products such as Corona on draught and Brooklyn Craft Lager.

Mirroring the food menus, Brains is shouting about Welsh Provenance and is working with localised suppliers, such as Brecon Gin, Aberfalls and Penderyn, to offer customers more Welsh favourites.

New App / Website

Brains have developed a new app and launched a new website all focused on supporting their customers.

Brains spokesperson, Sara Webber, said of the new Brains tech: “We are conscious that safety and consumer confidence is paramount in the new world, and our technological development will add ease of use and reassurance. The app will allow customers to order food and drinks both onsite and take away and pay securely and take advantage of promotional offers.”

The updated website has new and improved functionality allowing customers to find Brains’ stockists, book tables and book stays at Brains Inns, as well as being able to explore all 160 pubs all from the comfort of your mobile device.

Sara continues, “It’s a real “new normal” for us and moving forward we will look to expand our support for local produce and to work with Welsh Government’s ‘Love Wales, Love Taste’ initiative.

“Whether you're a regular or a new customer, we're looking forward to welcoming you back from the 3rd."
